Music from Around the World - 5th grade general music - 30 minutes
In the prior lesson, students have finished learning a dance to the Israeli song "Erev Shel Shoshanim" and started work learning how to sing "Le Pont D'Avignon" in French. In this lesson, they will perform the dance a final time, warm-up with reading and singing short rhythmic and melodic examples, finish learning how to sing the chorus and response of "Le Pont D'Avignon," sing and perform the motions for "Le Pont D'Avignon," and learn how to sing the German folk song "All Things Shall Perish." In the future, students will sing "All Things Shall Perish" with dynamics and as a round.

Parody Unit: "On Top of Spaghetti" - 6th grade general music - 45 minutes
In the prior lesson, students have created in small groups, their own verse of lyrics to the 12-bar blues and have learned the definiton of parody about about the blues genres. In this lesson, they warm-up with reading and singing short rhythmic and melodic examples, review what they have learned and sing a familiar parody, "On Top of Spaghetti," learn about and sing the original song "On Top of Old Smokey," and identify it as an example of a folk song. In the future, students will have the assignment of creating their own parody to "On Top of Old Smokey."

Classroom Keyboard: Right Hand Melodies - 7th grade general music - 45 minutes
In the prior lesson, students completed a quiz on identifying the letter names of the notes on the staff in the range that they play on the keyboard and are working individually on playing right hand melodies on the keyboard for a grade, extra credit if the melody is played with both hands. In this lesson, students play a familiar exercise on the keyboard while singing the letter names, practice individually, play their melodies for a grade, and play a melody together and self-evaluate. If they have played for a grade, they get to spend the last five minutes of class practicing with a different keyboard voice.

Classroom Guitar: D chord progression and country western strum - 8th grade general music - 45 minutes
In the prior lesson, students completed a short quiz on identifying the letter names of the notes on the staff so that that information will be fresh for classroom keyboard in a week. They also individually practiced and were graded on performing a familiar chord progression with a specific strumming pattern on the guitar. In this class, they will finish being graded for those as well as learn a new chord progression and strumming pattern.
